Results - Keelboats   Dinghies

Lymington Town Sailing Club’s charity pursuit races one for dinghies and one for keelboats, took place in perfect conditions on Sunday (November 19).

This form of racing has boats starting at different times according to their handicap and in theory at least they should all finish together.

In the keelboat fleet, the main tussle was between Richard Jenner’s Contessa 28 Whisper and Don Wood’s Westmacott designed Windflower. Windflower started five minutes ahead of Whisper but was overtaken on the second run of the two hour race only to regain the lead on the next leg.

Whisper duly overtook again on the last beat but a jammed halyard meant that she could not hoist her spinnaker allowing Windflower to overtake her for victory in the final few yards.

The race and subsequent Dutch auction raised over £2,000 for Children in Need.
