WSCRA Handicapping Process 2007

 

COMPETITORS INFORMATION

 

1. WSCRA HANDICAPS

 The system is in essence a performance related handicap, and consequently is transparent to all competitors.

 

1a. After establishing the initial handicap based on current data and archive records for all competing boats, frequent adjustments will be made in the light of race results Fluctuations to a boat’s handicap may vary as much as 5% in the early stages, and a finite handicap is expected to evolve as the series of races progresses.

 

1b.To help the new handicapper establish your first handicap I would appreciate it if you could fill out the attached measurement form, highlighting in detail any changes made to the boat and sails from the 2006 data.

Please also state on the form your preference: - Class 1. IRC TCF or Class 2. Handicap.

 

2. SUMMER SERIES TROPHIES.

 

All boats will receive a WSCRA handicap!

This year the emphasis will be on the full Summer Series.

A programme of 9 races, with 2 discounts, 7results will decide the series trophies.

The overall winner of IRC class 1.

Will be awarded the IOR / IRC West Solent points Trophy.

The overall winner of WSCRA handicap class 2.

Will be awarded the West Bromwich Challenge Cup

The runner up will receive the Jackson & Jackson Cup

 

Indivual race winners may receive a club trophy from the organising club.

And will receive beer tokens generously supplied by our Sponsors Ringwood Brewery.

 

2a The HYPOTENUSE MINI SERIES format will remain the same.

 

 

3.WSCRA WEB SITE www.wscra.co.uk

 

A simple web site is being developed to provide a single point of reference for all competitors. In the initial stages the information will be limited to Results and future events, but it is hoped to widen the scope of the site, as demand requires.

The success of this web site will depend on receiving accurate and speedy results info from the race officers from the race-organizing club!

It is also hoped that our three clubs will be able to organize a link to the WSCRA site from their on going club web sites.

WSCRA News & Results 2006

WSCRA was originally formed in 1973 to arrange small yacht racing amongst the local clubs after initial success the changes in racing saw the association wound up in the early 1990’s One of its original members ex LTSC Commodore Barry Dutton decided to revive WSCRA in the light of dwindling numbers for Club Keel boat racing. The association is now made up of Lymington Town Sailing Club, Royal Lymington Yacht Club and the Royal Solent Yacht Club. In addition the Hypotenuse Mini Series WSCRA have a series of 12 races within the Western Solent, which are taken from each of the clubs schedule of races. The events have grown in popularity over the past 3 years due to the strong interclub organisation and friendship and the support of the sponsor Ringwood Brewery
