The club sailing facilities include...

The Solent

The Solent is one of the best facilities a sailing club could have on its doorstep. Sheltered by the Isle of Wight, and with its variable tidal conditions, the Solent provides a wide range of boating. From safe and easy sailing for beginners through to new challenges for experienced, high class performers. What's more, we can, and do, sail all year round. Cruising wise, there are many places to visit either for lunch, a couple of nights at anchor or another harbour for a more lively occasion. Long distance cruisers can be at The Needles and off into The English Channel in around an hour with a fair tide.

Dinghy Park

The Club has 200+ dinghy spaces available for members. To use this facility, members need to submit a Dinghy Park Application form, to the office. We are keen to encourage participation in dinghy sailing so operate a policy of allocating spaces according to usage.

Club pontoon

The Club leases a 31m length of pontoon, situated at the southern end of the Harbour Master’s Pontoon. The full Pontoon Regulations are displayed in the Club foyer. Members may use the pontoon during the daytime, but overnight stays must be booked through the Office.

Club boats

mirror_being_set_upThe Club operates three Safety RIBs, which are used during Club organised events. These are helmed by club volunteers who have attended the Club RIB Safety Course. These courses are run during the year. In addition we have a launch called Fortuna, a safety/mark laying boat called Bertie, both kept on the pontoon, a Committee Boat – Baverstock, a 420 and a RS Vision used by members and for Saturday Sailing.  The club dinghies are available for hire by members when not in use by Saturday Sailing. These boats and the racing marks are maintained by volunteers under the supervision of the Bosun.

Public slipway

20100202townslipwayThe public slipway is adjacent to the club house, and has access from the car park. Boats must not be prepared on the slipway. This causes congestion and can hold up an RNLI launch. Launch trolleys must be cleared from the slipway area as soon as possible. The slipway can be slippery - be warned. Vehicle launched boats must have a ‘lookout’ posted to ensure that the area behind the reversing trailer is clear.
