What do we do?
The purpose of the Cruising Section is to bring together and organise all those interested in Cruising (as opposed to racing). We try to ensure that our activities are shared between boat owners and those without boats, providing a chance for all to sail on a variety of craft to many destinations.

We have approximately 125 sailing yachts, 25 motor boats and 350 people overall. Via the Sailing Committee we maintain links between cruising people, keel boat racers, and the dinghy fraternity. Some cruisers owners race their yachts occasionally.

We help owners to find crew for both types of activity, and help organise committee boats and other assistance for keelboat racing.

How do we do it?
For five months between May and September we organise an overnight rally to popular venues on average every month. usually with dinner ashore,

Each year we run one major Club Cruise in company, of 10 to 14 days duration.

We also organise an annual Mini Cruise over a long weekend.

The Crewing Bureau provides a contact list. Thus owners seeking crew and crew seeking a boat can find one another.

The Meanderers meet every Wednesday, summer or winter for informal day sailing. Crews are allocated to boats at random.

The Saturday Saunterers meet on the first Saturday of winter months.

From Saturday to April we run monthly Cruising Suppers in the Solent Room often with an after dinner speaker on a cruising-related topic.

Why and how to join us?
Our activities are open to any member of LTSC. There is no requirement to own a cruising boat to go cruising. To obtain advance notice of events, and registration forms (which are sent out with the Telltales newsletter), you need to register your interest and your contact details on a form available from the club office. You will then receive our monthly mailings and will be able to participate in this very friendly and open section of the club.
