Dinghy racing @ LTSC
The Club has an enthusiastic and active dinghy racing section. We race all the year round - up to four times a week during the Summer - as well as hosting major open events.
Club events
Club racing events and series take place on Sunday mornings (all the year round), and on Wednesdays (between April and November). Club members are also welcome to join the RLymYC Monday evening dinghy racing.

Open events
The Club has a long tradition of hosting open events. These range from open meetings such as the RS Open we are hosting on May 8th & 9th 2010, to long distance races such as Newtown Race.

All open events are listed in the Dinghy Racing Calendar and details can also be found on the Open events pages.
Fleets, classes & handicaps

Within the club we race a wide variety of dinghies - with the choice reflecting the varied diversity of classic and modern dinghies available on the UK dinghy scene.
The Wayfarer class has established a large following at the club.
On Sundays, all other dinghies are put into the Portsmouth Yardstick handicap fleet We split the handicap fleet into three bands Fast, Medium and Slow. The handicap bands are selected in order to give best possible racing by keeping boats with similar speed characteristics in the same band.
The following are the most popular dinghies in the handicap fleet that regularly race.
Slow Handicap: Optimist, Laser 4.7, Mirror, Scow
Medium Handicap: Laser, Laser Radial, Wayfarer, Blaze, Taser, Streaker, RS100, RS Vision
Fast Handicap: RS800, RS700, Musto Skiff, RS600, RS400, 29er, Int Canoe
Reports & results
We endeavour to publish event reports and results on the website as quickly as possible, and sailors can also access the appropriate notices and documents that define the rules, handicap systems and other detail required for running the racing.
