NORMANDY CRUISE 2006

Part of our fleet in Honfleur as guests of the local yacht club.

This year the club's Cruising Section went to Normandy. The event was organised by Mike Kelly who did a wonderful job. We sailed across the Channel as a fleet of nine sailing boats and two motor boats.

During the course of the fortnight we visited Fecamp, Deauville, Honfleur, Ouisterham/ Caen, Arromanche, Carentan and St.Vaast, after which the fleet split, some going on to Cherbourg and others to the Channel Islands before turning north for home.

At Honfleur we were the guests of the Cercle Nautique de Honfleur who organised a barbeque for us at which speeches and presentations were made on the eve of a joint race. In the morning both clubs gathered on a start line almost in the shadow of the massive Pont de Normandie. We raced together as far as the first mark at which the fleets splint - the French setting course for Lymington (where they were given a reciprocal welcome as guests of LTSC) while the LTSC boats turned at the mark to continue with their planned cruising itinery.

There was general agreement that 2006 has been our best Annual Cruise to date.

Starboard! An encounter with this hot-rod racing catamaran kept Sattva's skipper on his toes.
