Mini Cruise 2006

Eleven boats took part in the Mini Cruise (20/24 July) which was expertly organised by Jim Sey.

Many of the participants were "Channel virgins" on their first trip to France. Everyone survived the experience.

The route was Lymington - Cherbourg - St.Vaast la Hougue - Bembridge - Cowes - Lymington.

The highlight of the trip was a dinner for 33 in Fuscias restaurant in St.Vaast.

The trip in both directions was blessed by good weather although patches of mist on the return trip kept crews on their toes as they crossed the shipping lanes in poor visibility.

Some of our cruising ladies at Fuscias Resturant at St.Vaast.

The barbeque on the sea wall at St.Vaast was attended by crews from WSCRA racing boats as well as LTSC Cruising Section. John Bence (Commodore of RLYC) can be seen towards the right of the picture.

Ellen McArthur's trimaran passed us on the way home. Even motoring with sails furled she looked impressive.

Another woman driver in the eastern Solent.

The entrance to Bembridge marina (where some returning boats spent the night on the way home). The channel markers looked impossibly close to the shore but no one ran aground.
