Ospreys to Alderney - Mission Accomlished!

At 2145 this evening, two Osprey dinghies and one RIB arrived back in Lymington having completed their trip to Alderney and back.

The Ospreys were sailed by Keith, Julie and Liam Willis in one boat, with Richard Russell and Steve 'Tig' Williams in the other. Duncan Wright with Peter Bennett provided an excellent safety boat cover in Duncan's RIB, Elshin.

The outward passage on Saturday took 12 hours and wasn't pleasant mid channel due to the swell. Coming back was flatter but as dusk set in and the wind dropped having 'threaded the Needles', the GPS was predicting several hours to go. Elshin took them in tow to ensure that they got home in time for a beer before closing time.

A welcoming party helped with dragging the boats up the slipway and packing up so all could head off for a hot bath and a comfortable bed!

Congratulations to all participants !  No doubt there will be many tales to tell in the bar over the coming weeks.
