Spinnakers in the River

Many of you will have read the Lymington Times last week which stated that the Harbourmaster is seeking to ban spinnakers in the river. I am told by the Harbourmaster that this is incorrect and that he was misquoted and that the comments where reported out of context.

It is my belief that there is nothing unsafe in dinghies flying spinnakers in the river providing they are sailing safely and abiding by the correct rules of navigation. In informal discussion I have said as much to the Harbourmaster and it is our intention to hold a formal meeting with LHC to clarify any misunderstanding that there might be.
