Perishers series lives up to its name.
The third race of the LTSC Perishers series brought 22 boats to the start line on a bright clear morning. The brilliant conditions were accompanied by a raw South Easterly breeze which dropped the temperature by several degrees from that experienced in the first two races. However, this did not deter a competitive fleet that set out from the line to sail a long beat down the river and out to a moveable laid in the central Solent.
The next leg to Baverstock, originally intended by the Race Officer Simon Ward and assistant Sylvia Weger to be a run became a broad reach due to an untimely shift in the breeze. As the breeze freshened to a solid 20 knots the reaching boats began to revel in their preferred conditions. This did not prevent several of the faster boats from taking an unwelcome swim at the gibe mark.
After sailing this same leg again the fleet returned to the slightly calmer waters of the river via Cross Boom post. This

When the handicap was applied the ever consistent Myles Mence in his Blaze took top spot by almost two minutes from Nigel Walbank and Toby Power in the Tasar. Third spot was occupied once again by Parkstone Visitors Dave Bursey & Frances Lovell in their Merlin Rocket..
