The Wednesday Summer Points 11 race Series runs on Wednesday evenings from June 29th through to Sept 7th.

Competitors are reminded that they must complete and sign the LTSC Contact Sailing Experience Form and return it to the Sailing Secretary before participating in a race and must also sign on before starting a race and sign off when returning ashore – failure to do so may result in being scored as DSQ.
Any compeditor under the age of 18 at the start of the series must complete a Lymington Town Sailing Club Parental disclaimer before racing.
There is a signing on and off procedure, the signing on/off sheet is in ithe corridor to the changing rooms.
Please check for any changes to sailing instructions signalled with signal flags D over L on club flag pole on the lawn

Wednesday Summer Points Race 8 – 17th August
With the previous Wednesday evening race being cancelled there were quite a lot of boats out this evening. Again there was not much water in the river with another spring tide to contend with. Nigel Walbank was the race officer. The wind was registering 14 knots from the North West and it would be wind over tide.
The fast fleet started at 1836 with the remaining fleets starting at 3 minute intervals, there were 37 boats signed up this week, 4 fast, 9 Wayfarers, 21 Medium and 3 slow fleet boats.

The four fleets were given a reach down the river to Black & Orange before being sent off in different directions on their various courses. They would all get a down wind leg next against the tide. The Fast fleet went to Plus mark. The Medium and Wayfarer fleet would round Walbank and the slow fleet were sent to %. The Fast fleet, Medium and Wayfarers would head off to West mark before joining the slow fleet at East mark, then gate & home.
The first boat home was the Medium fleet Merlin Rocket of Mark Barwell & Louise Johnson at 1929hrs followed by the first Fast fleet boat, the Osprey of Keith & Julie Willis 18 seconds later. The first Wayfarer home was that of Marcus Malanaphy & A Smith. Steve Boyd in his Scow was the first slow boat home.

Wednesday Summer Points Race 6 – 3rd August
At the scheduled start time the wind was coming from the South West at 19 knots and with a range of 2.5 metres there would be quite some tide when it started to pick up pace. There was not much water in the river either as it was almost low tide.
The race officer Nigel Walbank set the courses assisted by William Dear, the fast fleet would be going to Black & Orange, Pennington, Colten, West mark, then back to Pennington, before rounding Royal Lym, passing through the gate then returning home. The Wayfarer & Medium fleet were sent to Black & Orange, Plus mark, West mark, back to Plus mark before also rounding Royal Lym, through the gate & home. The Slow fleet were sent to Black & Orange, Walbank, Royal Lym, gate & home.
The fast fleet started at 1838 with the remaining fleets starting at 3 minute intervals, there were 45 boats signed up this week, 10 fast, 8 Wayfarers, 21 Medium and 6 slow fleet boats.
There were numerous retirements with only 15 boats actually completing the course. Over 20 boats returned before the finishers had started arriving home. The first boat home who had finished correctly was the Slow fleet Laser 4.7 of Will Smith, he was followed by a fast fleet boat, the Osprey sailed by Keith & Julie Willis. They were followed by a medium fleet boat, the RS 100 of Giles Chipperfield. Next came another Slow fleet boat, an RS Terra sailed by Liam Willis. The last boat was recorded at 1956hrs so everyone was safely home with more than a few stories to relate.

Wednesday Summer Points Race 5 – 27th July
John Sims was the Race Officer this week. He would be assisted by Tony Christopher. The wind was coming from the South West averaging 8 knots gusting 10, the tide would be flooding for the duration.
The fast fleet started at 1833 with the Wayfarers off at 1836 followed by the Slow & Medium fleets at 1839. There were only 40 boats signed up this week, 9 fast, 19 Wayfarers, 5 slow and 7 Wayfarers.

The Fast fleet were sent to Plus Mark, Jack in the Basket, Gate then home. The Wayfarers & Medium fleets went to Walbank, Jack in the Basket, gate, home and the Slow fleet went round Seymour’s post, Tar Barrel before heading home.
The first home was Will Smith in his Laser 4.7; he was followed by David Griffiths and Alex Kemish, also in Laser 4.7s. The first fast fleet boat home was the RS 800 of Luke & Emma McEwen. They were followed by Nigel Walbank in his Musto Skiff then Peter Conway in an International Canoe. The Medium fleet started to come home at 1920ish. The first one over the finish line was David Gorringe in his RS 100. He was followed by the Tasar of Tim & Mayumi Knight with Stewart Watson in his Blaze taking 3rd.

In the Wayfarer Fleet Mike Kinna & Huw Evans took first with John Stevens & Oliver Dunne taking second. Michael Ellis & John Vale took third.
